I have a string quartet comprised of students aged 12-15. Should they be in the Youth Artist level? They are interested to take part in the Rising Star category. May I know whether the 2 pieces can be 2 movements of the same work?

Greetings,

Thanks for your message. Yes, your students should apply to the Youth Artist Age Group at Rising Star Category. They can summit either two complete works or two movements of one work.

Hello, I just want to ask. How if the repertoire exceeds the time duration? for example in young musician III category the requirement duration is 8 minutes, can we play 12 minutes duration of repertoire?

thank you

Is there a repertoire list? Are there age categories? What is the difference between rising star and artist?
admin 2021-04-13 21:53:17
We do have different age groups. Please check out our regulation page https://www.cimcusa.org/page/solo.html
We don't require specific repertories. Participants choose their own repertories.

About Solo professional category (13-14 yrs old), mentioning requirement time 18 minutes, is it to be just 18 or 18+ minutes (<19mins)?
admin 2021-03-30 23:37:21

Good afternoon, I would like to ask if my duet (piano, violin) would qualify for the ensemble division. I only saw piano duos, or piano trios, or string ensembles.
admin 2021-03-30 01:55:44
Yes, you can apply the ensemble division.

Hello, I have a question about the contest. Can I submit my Girls' Choir and the Women's Choir to the competition (both groups are amateur). If so, how many minutes of the program should be sent? What is the cost of participating in the competition?

The application fee for a choir that has 12 people or less is $300,the application fee for a choir that has 24 people or less is $400, theapplication fee for a choir that has above 25 people is $500. Please let usknow if you have other questions.

Hi there! I’m interested in participating the competition this year. Would you let me know if I can wear masks during recording? There will be a recordist in the hall so I think it will be better to wear a mask.

Greetings,

Yes, you may wear a mask--there are no rules against wearing a mask. Probably most people will be also wearing a mask, too

Hi!
We’ve already paid the application fee, submitted videos and notified that our son has been accepted to the competition, so are we to fillet out the application again online? Will the application fee already paid be deducted? Please advise so we can complete and send remaining funds for him and I (I’ll be staying with him that week). And as we are driving up from St Louis, is parking available as part of fees?
Thanks,
David
